CopySafe PDF Protector DRM Options
|
CopySafe PDF protector can encrypt and protect PDF for
normal copy protection or it can also
be used in conjunction with ArtistScope add-ons for total control DRM
management. Using DRM can extend your protection to ensure that the documents
cannot be redistributed to unauthorized users.
By using DRM to control access rights and permissions to your PDF documents,
you can prevent forwarding and unauthorized distribution. In fact using
ArtistScope DRM on PDF is the only effective way you can stop file and document
copy for use by persons other than the intended user.
So even if 100 copies are
distributed to other persons, unless those recipients also have your explicit
permissions and right to open the file or document, then the whole process of
pirating and unlawful forwarding has been stopped most effectively. The file
itself can be duplicated and the recipient can copy it to their computer but
they will not be able to open it.
Protecting PDF with DRM file lock
When using the CopySafe PDF Protector, instead of encrypting the document with
the usual embedded settings for
password, etc, when you select the DRM option that PDF document becomes tagged
for DRM and the site that manages the access rights are embedded into the
document. Such PDF documents will remain locked until the user validate their
computer identity and verifies their permissions to open the file.
Protecting eBooks with DRM file lock
DRM applied to eBooks is ideal for protecting an author's distribution. When an
eBook sale is made an author can simply add their new subscriber to the DRM
management system to enable that user's rights of access to the otherwise locked
eBook file.
DRM file lock options
When converting a document to protected format and locking the file for DRM
management the only settings required are what you see in the image above,
because all other options such password, print and expiry control will now be controlled
remotely by the DRM server that you nominate. In fact you have total control
over those settings that you set on the server as they can be changed at any time
with immediate effect, even on documents that have already been downloaded by your readers:
- Set file lock to individual user access or to a group (such as course or college level)
- Set file lock for expiration date verified by local time or time server
- Set file lock requiring a password to open the document
- Set the number of times that the document can be accessed by a single user
- Allow/prevent printing and/or set a limit of times the document can be
printed
- Allow/prevent document access via another computer on a remote or virtual
connection
- Change user access and document settings at any time with immediate effect
What is required to manage DRM and file locking
With CopySafe PDF Protector you have all the tools that you need to distribute
copy protected documents, safe from all save and copy including Printscreen and
screen capture. No other PDF protect solution can do that. However to go one
step further and stop file copy and forwarding you need to lock your documents
using DRM as described above. Software alone cannot perform the task of DRM
management as the only way for it to remain secure is for the control to be
remote from the user's computer and away from mischief.
ArtistScope DRM can provide everything that is needed for total control of your
documents and it's available for free to all licensed users of CopySafe PDF
software. ArtistScope maintain servers in USA and Australia as DRM Portals where
authors can register their documents by uploading to them the server. Once a DRM
document is in the system an author has total control over who can open the
file, how many times they can open the file and how many times they can print
the file.
DRM validation for CopySafe PDF and eBooks is a FREE service to CopySafe users,
and there are different options to suit everyone's budget.
Purchase CopySafe PDF Protector & get DRM control for free
This option enables you to run the PDF Protector on your own computer to
create protected documents and eBooks that can be distributed straight away
without DRM but fully copy protected from all save and copy methods

Use a Hosted DRM Service provided by ArtistScope (3 locations)
Authors just starting out with a limited budget or organizations in need of
short term document protection can use a fully managed DRM service running on
one of ArtistScope's servers. No software is required as it is all provided
server-side to process documents that you upload from the web. No licenses are
required and there is no contract to sign, as you only pay rent for the time
that you want to use it.
The rental options are payment by month or purchase a number of "hits"
which is how many times your users open their documents. High usage accounts
will benefit from monthly fees for unlimited usage, while low usage users can
get long term usage for very little. All new accounts are charged a setup fee.

Purchase the DRM Service for your web site
Everything that ArtistScope uses in their Hosted DRM Service including the
CopySafe PDF Protector installed and running server-side, the DLL interface to
enable web control and the web portal system for your web site can be purchased
for installation on your own server. This option requires a Windows server or
least a virtual where you have administrator rights to install software.
ArtistScope DRM can be installed to any Windows computer that supports IIS
Manager, Active Server Pages (ASP) and either Access or MS-SQL databases. Click

DRM options for PDF.
Webmaster's Note:
CopySafe PDF is by far more secure than all other eBook and PDF document
protection solutions because it was designed to be so. Performing a web
search on "extract password from PDF" or "remove DRM from eBooks"
can provide an insight to how
useless most document protection really is. Any similarity
between the total control management of documents provided by ArtistScope DRM
and the "claims" of other document solutions is
not a coincidence.
CopySafe PDF is ideal for the distribution of documents
by download and on CD, but if your documents are to be
viewed from your web site, then you should check
out the ASPS Web Reader which is specially designed for copy protecting web content
instead of exposing it like other web browsers do. ASPS
provides the most secure copy protection for all web
page content including PDF, Flash and video. |
