The
International
Art Contest, which provides awards in several categories
of Fine Art has been sponsored by ArtistScope since its debut
on the Internet. The ArtistScope team has been providing web
space, programming skills and security.
The International
Art Contest is online for voting between August and December
each year. The final decisions are derived from the votes
from both the online visitors and a special judging committee
formed by the entrants themselves, making this contest the
only truly democratic event on the globe. It was also the
first serious art event to be staged without boundaries.
The
International
Digital Art Awards is now also sponsored by
ArtistScope
who will be providing their premier image protection system,
known as Copysafe, to the winner and next top five selected
artists as encouragement awards.
The IDAA
boasts an international jury including US digital pioneer
Laurance Gartel and Dr Sasha Grishin from Australia. Dr Sasha
Grishin studied art history at the universities of Melbourne,
Moscow, London and Oxford and has served several terms as
visiting scholar at Harvard University. In 1977 he founded
the Fine Art Program at the Australian National University
and now is a Reader in Art History and Head of the Department
of Art History and Visual Studies at that university. He has
published extensively in digital, contemporary and medieval
art.
William
Kent, ArtistScope team leader, life time professional artist
and an advocate of intellectual property, has headed the judging
committee for the Art Dept International Art Contest since
1998. As founder of the first online contest to encourage
participation without boundaries, his experience with online
artists and the diversity of art internationally was warmly
welcomed to the IDAA judging panel.
