ArtistScope DRM for PDF can be run from nay type of web server
that provides Windows IIS manager and ASP support. Comprised of web scripts written in ASP, a Windows executable and a Windows DLL which requires
the Windows
OS, you will need either a Windows computer or a computer running Windows in a virtual
partition.
Any Windows version can be used that provides IIS and database
support for either Access or MS-SQL databases:
- IIS 5.0, Windows 2000
- IIS 5.1, Windows XP Pro and Windows XP
Media Center Edition (requires retail CD)
- IIS 6.0, Windows Server 2003 and
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
- IIS 7.0, Windows Server 2008 and
Windows Vista (all editions)
- IIS 7.5, Windows Server 2008 R2 and
Windows 7 (all editions)

IIS Manager is needed to configure and run a web site. Some
Windows editions like XP Home do not include IIS but it is possible to download
and install a personal web server.
Sharepoint and ASP.NET web sites
The ArtistScope DRM Portal can be copied into any existing web site or it can be
used as a standalone site.
The DRM Portal scripts were written in Classic ASP so that they will be compatible
with any web application. In later versions of IIS all you need to do is enable
"ASP". Classic ASP is much easier to edit, making customization so much easier
because you don't have to recompile anything. Simply open in Notepad, type in
your changes and save.
Installation on Mac and Linux computers
By creating a virtual partition and installing a Windows version into it, it is
possible to run this DRM portal on any computer or server. Virtual server
technology today is most advanced and most web hosts now provide virtual servers
for Linux and Windows that may actually be hosted on nay server. But as with any
Windows server you still need to enable the options that you will be using such
as IIS manager and ASP support. Some web hosts provide Virtual Windows for as
little as $30/month.
DRM Installation
Installation is simple. Copy the portal folder to the root of your web site and
adjust the write permissions on the upload folders. A single config file holds
all of the parameters pertinent to your site's name, contact details and folder
locations. The installers for the executable and DLL will automatically install
to the best location on the drive being used. Then all you need to do is add
your license key to activate the converter.
DRM Customization
Out of the box, the ArtistScope DRM portal includes everything found in the
ArtistScope DRM portal online, including provision for demo accounts that expire
in 14 days and so on. For more private use some of those features may need
customization. For example, for use in a corporate network you may want to
change it so that users can only be added by an administrator. Such
modifications should be a simple task for anyone with a little html experience
because Classic ASP is the easiest to interpret of all programming languages.

DRM Hosting Alternative

maintaining your own server is too much, you can always use the hosted DRM
