Using the Admin Functions

Add image | Edit image | Header | Footer | Story | Links | Sample | Delete | Order

Each image is displayed on a page of its own that be customized for your messages, look and feel. Your admin page will show you which images you are using, the page links to use, and keep a track of the hits to your pages. Through the use of add in forms linked from the admin page, you can control the entire look of each page by adding the html the way you want it.

Add an image

From the admin page use the link for upload image. From the form presented, select the image from your hard drive, and click the Submit button. The image must be of good quality and not over compressed or it will fail when encrypted. You can upload JPG, JPEG, GIF and Animated GIF images.

The process may be slow, depending on your connection, so please be patient and try not to interrupt the upload or leave the page until it has been completed and a preview shown. Then you can set the parameters for how you want the image to appear. If you click the Test button, a preview will be shown of your settings. When satisfied click the Save button and your settings will be saved and the upload finalized.

Targeted Link
Set a clickable link on the image to return users to your home page or exhibit menu, or to send them to the next image in your display.

Border Size
To set a frame around the image set the width in pixels. If no border frame is required leave this option set to 0. The color used for the border is that set in Border Color which is also the color of the applet background that is shown before the image loads.

Border Color
To nominate the color to be used, click the button to open a color selector window. To match colors more accurately you can set the RGB values if known. This color is also the color of the applet background shown before the image loads.

Text Color
This is for the text message that is displayed in the applet while the image is being downloaded to your visitor's browser. For legibility set the color to contrast with the Border Color selected.

Image Scale
You can scale the image by entering a percentage. Same size is equal to 100%. Altering the scale of the image does not reduce its file size, and only serves for final trim. If a size much smaller than the one uploaded is to be sued, we recommend uploading another smaller image to help with download times.

Edit an image

When the image is uploaded and included on your admin page, you can return to it later and alter its display settings. To edit the look of an image click the Edit link associated with the image. Each of the settings listed above are editable as well as:

Applet width: width of the applet in pixels (be careful no to distort)
Applet height: height of the applet in pixels (be careful no to distort)
Border frame: thickness of the image frame in pixels
Border color: color of frame and applet background
Text color: color of the text shown on the image loading messages
Image loading text: the message shown while the image downloads
Status message: the message shown in the browser status bar on Mouse Over.
Image hyperlink: the clickable link set on the image

The status message will appear when the mouse is passed over the image, and is most useful for displaying the name of the artwork or the artist.

Set a header

The header is what appears at the very top of all of your pages. From the admin page, click the Add Header link and a form will open into which you can paste your html. The code that you use must be html and any graphics used must be on your web site using the full link as in http://yourSite.com/images/logo.jpg. The html inserted here must begin with and include the beginning BODY tag, with which you can control the colors for page background, links, or add a tiled background. Note that whatever is included in the header will appear on all of your pages.

Set a footer

From the admin page, click the Add Footer link and use the form to paste in your html. Only html for page content should be inserted here. Do not include the closing BODY or HTML tag in the footer. Note that whatever is included in the footer will appear on all of your pages.

Add a story

Here you can add the main content of individual pages for describing the image or product displayed. Click the Body link associated with the image to paste in your html. The image will always appear above anything that you add here. While the CopySafe page is loaded, all content including text and anything else you add here is protected as well. You can even add Flash movies, etc providing that they are set to run from your web site. If Javascript needs to be included between the HEAD tags of your pages to support any page content, please send your script to Support to be included, but please note that any inclusion in the Head tags will appear on all of your pages. Each image has its own story insert and whatever is included will only appear with the image with which it is associated.

Using your links

Using the Link associated with an image will show the link to use to call the page from your web site. You will not be able to use the CopySafe page in a frameset and must allow it to open Top or into a new window. The return links on your display page will ensure that your visitors don't lose your web site. When you click on Send Status a list of the links to use will be emailed to you. Each link can be set to either allow all link calls, or only link calls from the web site listed with your contact details.

Sample

From the admin page, clicking the Sample link will open the page to give a preview of what the image looks like with all editing effects.

Delete an image

From the admin page, clicking the Delete link associated with an image will prevent it from being shown online, but it will not remove it completely. This way you can keep its settings and enable/disable when and as required.

Ordering Page Views

The server logs your hits, shows the stats in your admin section, and emails you a warning when the reserve is low. You can then use this Register Form to purchase or increase your reserve.

Trouble shooting

If you have made alterations and when checking a preview, the alterations are not evident, do not panic. You may have to deal with caching by either your browser, or your Internet service. First check the caching settings in your browser profile and ensure that they are set to refresh. Then try reloading the page while holding down the Shift key. If you are still stuck with the earlier setting, you may have to wait until your proxy service updates, and with some services, that could take days.
